ABOUT ME

Quick Facts

Name: Gabrielle Cheng

Place of Origin: Chicago and Hong Kong

Education: University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, 2016

Gabrielle Cheng is a recent graduate of University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She completed two degrees in Business and Psychology with a Minor in Writing. She enjoys finding innovative approaches to different problems. During her undergraduate years, she actively participated in AIESEC, an international organization that promotes student exchanges, and Community Consulting Club, partnering with nonprofit organizations to fine tune strategies and operations.

She was first attracted to writing because of her multilingual background. Later, she discovered her special interest in cultural and historical topics in Southeast Asia and East Asia. In particular, she is fascinated with the cultural concepts of family, religion, and identity in these areas. Her works collected in this portfolio have reflected such interest.

During her free time, you may find her smashing shuttles in the badminton courts, playing a duet piano piece with her twin sister, or strolling at the museum. She has recently picked up a new hobby in photography after taking an introductory course on black and white photography in Italy. She also cares educational equality deeply and aims to support a needed child's educational fund monthly once she gets her paychecks!

If she could own a superpower, she would like to speak every language in the world. Just because.

p.s. I would like thank Xyza Cruz Bacani, a Filipina photographer whom I borrowed many of her art pieces in this portfolio from. If you like her works, please visit her portfolio:
